Universal’s Fast & Furious 9 has added more names to its expanding ensemble cast in Michael Rooker, Finn Cole and UFC Heavyweight star Francis Ngannou. They join franchise mainstays Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron returning from previous films alongside newcomers such as John Cena (Bumblebee, Blocked), Anna Sawai (Ninja Assassin) and Vinnie Bennett (Ghost in the Shell, The Shannara Chronicles). Rooker’s character is reportedly named Buddy while Cole and Ngannou’s roles are currently undisclosed. Justin Lin (who helmed The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6) returns to direct from a screenplay by Dan Casey (Kin, The Death of Michael Smith) based on a story by Lin and Alfredo Botello (Space Jam 2).
Fast & Furious 9 is scheduled for theatrical release on May 22, 2020.
