Anthony Michael Hall (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Breakfast Club) has joined the cast of Halloween Kills, joining Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, Scream Queens) returning as Laurie Strode to take on Michael Myers once again! Judy Greer (Ant-Man and the Wasp, Arrested Development) and Andi Matichak (Halloween, Assimilate) are expected back as Laurie’s daughter Karen and granddaughter Allyson with Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney as The Shape. Hall will be providing some much needed backup as Tommy Doyle, originally appearing in the original 1978 film—played by Brian Andrews—as one of the children Laurie babysits the night Myers goes on the rampage. Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man and the Wasp) later played the character in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers and was even approached to reprise the role for this film, but scheduling conflicts with the new Ghostbusters film prevented him from accepting the role. Being that this new trilogy ignores every film in the franchise save for the original, it kind of works to simplify the narrative as now Tommy Doyle-like Laurie-has only had one run-in with Michael Myers back during his initial rampage.
David Gordon Green (Halloween, Pineapple Express) returns to direct from a script he co-wrote with Danny McBride (Halloween, Vice Principals) and Scott Teems (Narcos: Mexico, Rectify) and will also be directing 2021’s Halloween Ends.
Halloween Kills will arrive in theaters on October 16, 2020.
