USA Network’s The Bourne Identity spinoff prequel series Treadstone has really blown out its cast, adding to the previously tapped Jeremy Irvine (Mama Mia! Here We Go Again, The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death) and Brian J. Smith (Sense8, Stargate Universe), previously cast as the male leads J. Randolph Bentley, a CIA spy dispatched to eliminate a key target, but ends up embroiled in an international conspiracy; and Doug McKenna, an all-American oil-rig worker whose life changes after he discovers long buried truths about himself. The series, written by Tim Kring (Heroes), “explores the origin story and present-day actions of a CIA black ops program known as Operation Treadstone — a covert program that uses behavior-modification protocol to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins. The first season follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously ‘awakened’ to resume their deadly missions.” Ramin Bahrani (Fahrenheit 451, At Any Price) is directing the first episode.
The new cast additions to the series include:
Omar Metwally (The Affair, Mr. Robot) as Mr. Edwards, a CIA agent who was ostracized by his colleagues after making a decision that left a fellow operative dead. His willingness to make the hard choice positions him as the most qualified agent for a stealth mission.
Tracy Ifeachor (Legends of Tomorrow, Quantico) as Tara Coleman, an investigative journalist who has turned her back on her career after getting too close to a dangerous truth. Now she must put the past behind her to get to the bottom of an international conspiracy.
Hyo-Joo Han (Illang: The Wolf Brigade) as SoYun, a wife and mother who must make difficult choices that compromise her quiet family life in North Korea after she starts to learn about her own secret past.
Michelle Forbes (Powers, True Blood) as Ellen Becker, a savvy CIA veteran trying to balance the demands of work and family while investigating a conspiracy with international implications.
Patrick Fugit (Outcast, Gone Girl) as Stephen Haynes, a high school math teacher with a dark side that he’s struggling to keep under control.
Michael Gaston (The Man in the High Castle, The Leftovers) as Dan Levine, a no-nonsense senior CIA veteran overseeing an investigation that involves some of the Agency’s darkest secrets.
Tess Haubrich (Nekrotronic, Alien: Covenant) as Samantha McKenna, Doug’s wife and a nurse who must reconcile her husband’s dark past.
Shruti Haasan (Rocky Handsome, Once Upon a Warrior) as Nira Patel, a young woman in Delhi whose waitress job serves as a cover for a dangerous double life as a trained assassin.
Gabrielle Scharnitzky (The Game, Devils) as Petra, a no-nonsense Russian patriot who has committed her life to her country but has deep-seated knowledge of Russian tactics that come into play when she is betrayed.
Emilia Schüle (Berlin Station) as a Russian KGB agent who will stop at nothing to promote the agenda of her motherland.
Treadstone is currently shooting in Budapest and does not yet have a premier date.
