Syfy’s Krypton is just starting its second season, and one of it’s most anticipated elements since it was announced was the inclusion of fan-favorite character Lobo, played by Emmett J. Scanlan (The Fall, Constantine). Two episodes in, it has been announced that the network is developing a Lobo spinoff series written and executive produced by Cameron Welsh (Krypton, Ash vs. Evil Dead). Scanlan is set to reprise his role as the crude intergalactic bounty hunter.
Read more about the character below:
Lobo is from the peaceful planet of Czarnia. He was born a devil in the midst of utopia. Loosely translated from his native language, his name means “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it.” As a teenager, Lobo single-handedly slaughtered his entire civilization, becoming the last of his race. Now the mercenary roams the universe on his motorcycle, getting paid for what he loves most: murder and mayhem.
This spinoff is coming in the midst of Warner Bros.’ continued attempts to get a Lobo film off the ground, which has been ongoing for the last fifteen years. Guy Richie (Aladdin, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) and Brad Peyton (Rampage, Incarnate) were previously attached to direct, with Will Smith and Dwayne Johnson eyed to star. Most recently, Michael Bay has been rumored to direct; and although no actor is set to star at the moment, it’s likely Scanlan will not be reprising the role there.
