Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington is dead today at age 41. According to law enforcement sources, the singer hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. His body was discovered early Thursday morning around 9 AM. Bennington has struggled with drugs and alcohol abuse for many years and has said in the past that he had previously considered committing suicide due to abuse he suffered as a child by an older male. Sadly, today would have been the 53rd birthday of his close friend Chris Cornell, lead singer of Audioslave and Soundgarden, who also committed suicide by hanging back in May.
Linkin Park is one of the most successful alternative bands of all time, with a string of hits including “Faint,” “In the End” and “Crawling.” Chester also had several forrays into acting, including small roles in Crank , Crank: High Voltage and Saw 3D: The Final Chapter.
He is survived by his ex-wife, current wife and 6 children.
