Marvel is quickly filling out its Ant-Man and the Wasp cast, announcing earlier today that Walter Goggins had been tapped for an unknown role. This comes on the heels of last week’s casting of Randall Park as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo. They join Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Evangeline Lily as The Wasp, Michael Douglas, Michael Peña, T.I. and Hanna John-Kamen in a mysterious role. There are no details on who Goggins is playing, but given his history of intense, antagonistic roles in projects such as The Shield, Justified, Django Unchained, and Sons of Anarchy, you can bet he’ll be following suit here as well. However, he’s also shown tremendous range in a variety of genres like Predators, Lincoln, The Hateful Eight, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, American Ultra, The Accountant and HBO’s Vice Principals. Speculation has an announcement coming this weekend at Comic-Con, and fans have already lept to him possibly portraying one of several comic book villains, such as Eric O’Grady/Black Ant, Taskmaster or Crossfire, among others. In any case, expect confirmation on this sooner rather than later.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to be released on July 6, 2018.
