Deadpool 2 continues to add to its ever expanding cast by adding Japanese Australian actress Shioli Kutsuna (Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Bitter Blood) in an unknown role. She joins Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino and Jack Kesy as the unknown antagonist. Returning from the first film alongside Reynolds are Morena Baccarin, T. J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić and Karan Soni.
Kutsuna recently appeared in the indie film Oh Lucy! opposite Josh Hartnett and will co-star with Jared Leto in the upcoming crime thriller The Outsider, which follows a U.S. army deserter living in post-world War II Japan who ends up joining the Yakuza.
Since there’s no information on which character Kutsuna is playing, all we have to currently go on is complete speculation. The two more probable possibilities are Typhoid Mary, a psionic mutant assassin suffering from dissociative identity disorder with ties to Daredevil and Lady Deathstrike, a cybernetically enhanced killer with a grudge against X-Man Wolverine as well as affiliations with Weapon X and the Reavers. Both would be very plausible additions to the cast and if it ends up being one of them it will be Mary’s first live-action portrayal and Deathstrike’s second, following Kelly Hu‘s characterization in 2003’s X2: X-Men United.
The film is currently shooting at Hatley Castle on the grounds of Hatley Park and Royal Roads University in Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Deadpool 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 1, 2018.
