Jack Kesy Lands DEADPOOL 2 Villain Role

Fox’s Deadpool 2 is shaping up to be quite the undertaking. Along with Ryan Reynolds returning as the Merc With a Mouth, Morena Baccarin, T. J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapičić will also be reprising their roles as Vanessa, Weasel, Blind Al, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus. They will be joined by newcomers Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz as Cable and Domino. With the hero side stacked so high, all that’s missing is a villain.

According to sources from DeadlineJack Kesy (Baywatch, The Strain) has been cast as a character named “Black Bob,” said to be a major antagonist. The name is suspiciously similar to a character from the comics named “Black Tom” Cassidy, a Dublin-born mutant with the power to bond with and project energy through plant life, as well as creating blasts with wooden objects. He is the cousin of X-Man Sean Cassidy/Banshee (making him uncle to X-Factor member Siryn) as well as the longtime partner and friend of Cain Marko/Juggernaut who’s clashed with Deadpool multiple times over the years, so his apparence in the film would be warranted.

The Wrap and several other outlets are reporting that Kesy’s “Black Bob” is indeed the villainous Cassidy, the codename being an attempt by the studio for some semblance of secrecy. In any event, expect a confirmation of this to come sooner rather than later as filming on the sequel is slated to begin next month in Canada under John Wick co-director David Leitch, who recently finished post on his first solo film, Atomic Blonde.

Deadpool 2 will premier in theaters June 1, 2018.
