Augusto Aguilera and Jake Busey join THE PREDATOR

Iron Man 3 director Shane Black is currently shooting The Predator in Vancouver, but that isn’t stopping them from adding cast members. Augusto Aguilera and Jake Busey are the recent additions, joining Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Sterling K. Brown (American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson), Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Thomas Jane (The Expanse), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu), Alfie Allen (John Wick) and Jacob Tremblay (Room).

Busey is known for his extensive genre work including a three-season stint on From Dusk till Dawn: The Series and films such as The FrightenersStarship TroopersIdentityArbor Demon and Dead Again in Tombstone. Aguilera hasn’t quite broken out yet, but has had a starring role on the FreeForm (formerly ABC Family) series Chasing Life as well as guest roles in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Major Crimes as well as upcoming series such as John Singleton‘s 80s LA-set cocaine epidemic FX series Snowfall and Antoine Fuqua‘s Ice, set in the treacherous world of the diamond business. His role in this film help increase his notoriety even more, possibly leading to more genre work.

While the specifics of their roles are not known, Aguilera can be glimpsed in the set photo above with the protagonists, so he’s more than likely playing another former soldier brought together to battle the Predator. Busey’s role may be related to the fact that his father, Gary Busey, has appeared in the franchise before. In Predator 2, he portrayed Special Agent Peter Keyes, leader of a government team under cover of a DEA special task force investigating a drug conspiracy attempting to capture a Predator for military use purposes. Jake Busey could be playing the son of Peter Keys or his role could be a nod to the character. There still hasn’t been any concrete plot details revealed, but the persistent rumors are that the film will be set in suburbia and will feature a 10-foot-tall genetically engineered Predator. Shane Black is holding the details extremely close to the vest, but some details are bound to slip out sooner or later so we’ll keep you updated as soon as that happens.

The Predator is set to be released February 9, 2018.
