Marvel’s Inhumans has begun filming in Hawaii, and the first set pics have hit the web, featuring star Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels) in costume as Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding king and leader of the Inhumans. The set photos also confirm that the series will feature Lockjaw, a 2,000 lb bulldog-like being who can teleport and serves as Crystal’s companion, presumably created via CGI. The previously announced cast consisted of Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) as Black Bolt’s brother, Maximus the Mad; Serinda Swan (Smallville) as Queen Medusa; and Ken Leung (Lost) as Karnak, Black Bolt’s cousin and closest advisor.
Not long after, additional cast members were announced, rounding out the main roster consisting of Eme Ikwuakor (Concussion) as Gorgon, Cousin of Black Bolt; Isabelle Cornish (Home and Away) as Crystal, Medusa’s sister; Mike Moh (Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist) as Triton, Black Bolt’s cousin; Sonya Balmores (Beyond the Break) as Auran, Head of the Royal Guards on Attilan; and Ellen Woglom (Californication) as an undisclosed character said to be an employee at a private aerospace company with a “passion for all things space and lunar” who’s “primed to be swept up in an adventure.” She will presumably act as the audience POV character.
Showrunner Scott Buck (Dexter, Six Feet Under) spoke about the additional cast in a statement, saying:
“With Eme, Isabelle, Mike, Sonya, and Ellen portraying the rest of our leading roles, we have a strong cast that is going to add tremendous depth to our Royal Family.”
Executive Producer Jeph Loeb added:
“We’re thrilled with this cast. Eme, Isabelle, Mike, Sonya, and Ellen round out an incredible array of talent that will finally bring the Royal Family of the Inhumans to IMAX and ABC.”
Filmmaker Roel Reine (Hard Target 2, The Scorpion King 3) is set to helm the first two episodes of the series, which will be shot in IMAX and premiere in theaters Labor Day weekend. It will then start its eight episode run on ABC on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017, with the finale airing on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017.
