RUMOR CONTROL: Russell Crowe, David Harbour & Michael Shannon rumored for Cable in Deadpool 2

This is Rumor Control. Here are the facts.

There have been so many actors tied to the role of Cable in the upcoming Deadpool 2 it’d be easier to list all of them not rumored for it. While previous reports had Pierce Brosnan as the shoe-in, recent rumors seem to point to the game not being over yet. Russell Crowe had a brief Twitter conversation with Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld which teased that he had or will be reading for the part. The Wrap reported that according to their sources, David Harbour (SleeplessStranger Things) is screen testing for the part as well, while Collider revealed that Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals, Man of Steel) was at one point in the running, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

So it appears the search for Cable is still on. Considering the size of the role in addition to his inclusion in X-Force and potentially more X-Men films, it makes sense that the studio is taking their time with casting, making sure they get the absolute right fit for the role. They appear to also be taking the same care with the role of Domino, a role that has been linked to Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire, The Martian).
Deadpool 2 is scheduled to release January 12, 2018.
